   1. SUCCINCT BIOGRAPHY.

Born  25 January Bucharest. Parents, Bucharest: Father, Lawyer George. Slama, son of Armand and of  Theresa Vucovici, from Viena.( Young  Artillery officer in the 1st War 1916 - 1918, „Hero” at Marasesti, Oituz, with many high decorations, studied Law and left Army, became Judge then a successful Lawyer, entered Politics, a Liberal Leader, rallied to the young outstanding Historian Gheorghe Bratianu --- both against „Bolshevics” and supporting Romania rights for Bassarabia ---, was arrested in 1952, no trial, died under arrest, close to the „Canal Danube-Black Sea”, the Communist Dictatorship extermination campus).  Mother, Maria, (house) ”nationalized” in 1949 (therefore she had  to suffer politically, proposed, in 1953, for deportation to Baragan, with her daughter and son-in-law, studies in an excellent private School for young ladies,”Pompilian”, a wonderful character, dedicated to her child – who adored her — and to her husband (she --- the thin, frail woman -- carried for several years a heavy  knapsack with food etc. to husband in various. prisons, and was the greatest support for her daughter and son-in-law life, helping them as a true saint); she was the daughter of  Nicolae Constantinescu --- who came  alone, when 6 years old, from a village near Bucharest, because persecuted by his stepmother, and became a merchant of peasant clothes --- and of kindest young girl Maria Banescu, from Bucharest, who became the vivacious full of humour and love Grandmother, the same as the child’s beloved  Aunty Lina, still alive younger sister of the great-grandmother / She married, end 1949, with Assist. Prof. Boris Cazacu --- who came to Bucharest from Kishinev when 17 years old, as a brilliant scholarship winner ---, later on he became Full Prof., Corresp. Member of Academy;  they married at Townhall on 22 Dec. 1949, with Al. Rosetti as official „Witness”, and had the Religious Wedding on 25 Dec. at home, in clandestinity - because  this was forbidden (Atheist Regime) for Boris as a member of PCR, but also for her, as a university teacher // She had a normal childhood, with a reciprocal adoration Mother - Child, in the changing World and new „Romania” of the inter - Wars Era. Beloved at home, wonderful education in ordinary „democratic”: Schools, then at Bucharest University, with friendly girl-mates.

From 11 to 18 years old  she was a „Cercetasha”(„Girl-Scout”), and never forgot  the „Law” (N.B. long before „Communism”, in Capitalist Romania!):”A Cercetasha doesn’t make difference in religious belief, social class or fortune”./ Especially after 1950, she and close family lived the heavy, hectic life in Communism, with troubles even at home, with perquisitions, the Commission for  „Nationalisation”, the invasion by night of Securitate for arresting Father, cold because Gas-restrictions, economies for Food, Fear in any moment, and obliged to change the aspect of the beautiful house built in 1902 by Grandfather (where the ancient owners were but tollerated), and to accept, because of the two rooms considered as „extra”, a completely unknown family and an old man, (Collocatari ”Living together”, compulsory inmates, see „Ninotchka”, the famous movie with Greta Garbo!). In 1975, after her Mother’s death, they moved to a much  smaller flat, close to Academy, bought by Father in 1946, inherited when the ancient owner died. The beautiful old House, in historical Calea Rahovei, was demolished in 1984, with bull-dozers, by order of Ceausescu, as many  other old beautiful houses, for building the monstruous  Casa Poporului „People(Nation)’s House”, greatest building (after 1990, the Parlianent) and one of its large Avenues.

Happy holidays in a small house built by maternal Grandmother  at Bushteni (face to highest Mountains Bucegi. with e.g.” The [natural] Sphinx”. and the „Babe”, i.e . „Old women”, all carved by thousand years-wind). She used to prepare there exams, and also face to over 25oo m. Caraiman she wrote e.g. future Langage et contexte . She climbed when 6 years old up to Omul (”The Man” (2500m),. as her first excitingly great event, and further on was extremely in love with mastering the high peaks. After 1975, built a small cottage at Breaza, close to Hills --- trees with delicious fruits, planted Abieses („fighting” for them all), with dominating green colour, grass, flowers, clear air, plenty of  bike tours on the old strongly German manufactured „Madam” Gőricke.

Studied with pleasure, in Bucharest, all permanent activities also there, with War events, various „Revolutions” and Dictatorships.

Late 1949, when the Communist Regime made the „Education Reform”, she was insidiously  included (by Prof. M. Ralea, G. Zapan, Al. Rosetti)  in the list of  Nominations for the Faculty of  Psychology. A bit before, Prof. Mihail Ralea received her in a morning, at home, and, both standing for all this talk, crucial for her, the tall, always successful man --- who confessed however once that he had been a „timid”---, said peremptorily: ”There are only three ways: ESCAPING [abroad], ADAPTING [i.e.to overtly collaborate with the new Commuist Regime], or SUICIDE”. The young „Miss Slama”, who didn’t expect such a verdict or exhortation, hesitated but a second and replied, respectful but firm --- without even knowing what she meant about, however obviously rejecting the three options with all her young revolt against such a future life for her ---: ”I think there is something else”. He looked  disconcerted for a while, but didn’t ask her „What?” (maybe thinking that she alluded to some violent opposition, which she didn’t mean at all! But in any case he always supported her). She didn’t know herself  „What?”--, maybe it was just a refusal of his cynical slogan, and she felt  afterwards, for years, as in a whirl, struggling much, working with passion, without puting in question „what for?”, never thinking to accept  Ralea’s first two options — e.g.to „remain” in another country even  when she had great  successes abroad, but  having however been educated to love her country and mastering the word Patriotism not as a mere cliché --. As for the third, yes, she sometimes thought of for choosing that option  (see the”Avatars” which must be reminded, revealed by those who lived such horrors, and which are intermingled in a C.V. with our „Activities”, Publications). She went on however in a continuous „Dynamics”.— she wrote once that like the „Nachtwandler” in Brahms’ Lied, and maybe only the Geto-Dacian „Sphinx” knows  wherefrom such a surprizing – apparent ! ---„vitality”, as foreign colleagues said, comes from.

A Latin „slogan”, that she later on selected as a Motto, suddenly came to her mind when 14 years old (she carved it, in a holiday, on the arm of  a wooden  lounge chair ---chaise longue--- in the garden at Bushteni, but she didn’t think of it as to a compulsory cliché, though it probably acted in her subconscient): «Labor omnia vincit improbus».

            2 STUDIES. DIPLOMAS.

A „Career” broken in its start by the Historical_Politics, determining tragical life of Parents, drammatical changes in her life, break of a well-promising situation at University and generally as a Writer too, of a Young Girl of middle-class Family also. Taking another Way --- from Italian studies towards Psychology, then from University teaching  entering  into strict Research activity only, and as a result also, moving to Psycholinguistics. Strange coimpensations, arriving unexpectedly: as the paradoxical benefit of having the ”obligation” of only doing Research, which she transformed into an immense pleasure and a wonderful chance; submitted to political persecution but surviving with immense Working efforts, such that she deserved the loyal help of some Romanian scholars --- as Mihail Ralea, Al. Rosetti, I. Iordan---, but mostly of outstanding foreign  personalities such as e.g. Roman Jakobson (and even of Soviet ones, as A. Luria, A. N. Leontiev, V. Artemov a.o. among distinguished Psychologists and Linguists), and also of  a marvellous respect and support from many colleagues abroad In the „milder” 1960s, she had even success at home, in spite of her „bad dossier”: Parents political situation, and especially her refusing to be a „Member of the Party” (the Communist one, i.e. accepting to be considered as a supporter of the Regime --- even if many weren’t), and to be dominated by the clichés and manipulations of the 1946-1989 Dictatorship. But almost every success was „counterbalanced” by a „thunderbolt”, see some avatars below. And further on, after 1990, feeling obliged to remain a nonconformist.

Studies and principal activities in Bucharest. I. Primary School (4 years). ”Regina Maria” (Patriarchy area), Lyceum (8 years) „Domniţa Ileana”.Her „Selected Author” at Baccalaureate, was the brilliant satirist I. L. Caragiale.

Then 4-5 years: University of Bucharest, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (denonations of those times). Some excellent Professors: Al.Marcu (Italian), Tudor Vianu (Aesthetics), Al. Busuioceanu (History of Arts, Consultant of King Carol II for his Art Collection), G. Zapan, later on M. Ralea (Psychology), N. Cartojan (Old Romanian Literature), G. G. Antonescu, I. Gabrea (Paedagogy), D. Gusti, T. Herseni (Sociology) a.o./ 1942 Licence (MA) in Philosophy (Psychology, Paedagogy, Aesthetics) ---- with a Thesis (whose topic was  suggested by her Professor G.Zapan, Doctor in Berlin with the Gestalt psychologist W. Kőhler): „ Associationism and Structuralism in Language Behaviour studies”). And 1943 Licence (MA) in Letters, Modern Philology (Italian, History of Arts). with a Thesis whose title was given by Prof. Al. Marcu: „The Realism in Pirandello’s Theater”, published as a little book, 1943, with a new view on Pirandello, namely his „Realism”: even in his  most expressionistic plays). // 1946 „University Paedagogical Seminar” (as specialities, entitling for teaching: Romanian, Italian, Psychology, Paedagogy, Philosophy), with 10, the highest mark./. 1946Concurs” (Contest called „Capacitate”, a National Examination - Competition for Teaching  qualification*in her case, teaching „Paedagogy”;  getting the highest mark, she won the First place at National level ) /

1944-1946, enrolled for Doctor’s degree in Italian, with her former Professor, the most distinguished Italianist and excellent pedagogist, Alexandru Marcu. As he had done  the most absurd step for such a Scholar in those times --- who also was not a politician ---, to accept the function of a Minister (and even of „Propaganda”!), in the Government of Marshall Ion Antonescu toward its end, after 23 sugust 1944 he got at first the punishment of „Domiciliu Obligatoriu” „DO” (Compulsory Residence, at home, under the „Services” watching), then a trial and was in prison, dying there in 1955 („Rehabilitated”in the 1960s). Knowing or not  of the great danger, the young Doctorand called up and visited her Professor in his „DO”, in order to present him the „Plan” of the projected  Thesis (on „Pirandello and Modern Tragicism”, on which he wrote his agreement: ”It can be a Thesis”). In 1947 he was already in prison., and for the young D.rand  the way to ”Italian studies” was closed, so she had to give up with Italian studies  and moved towards  Psychology, continuing her Licence Thesis, with a new view on Structuralism, developing the new direction of Contextualism in her new Thesis (with experiments too, 1947-1948) and preparing the alleys for  Psycholinguistcs. // In 1949. a new dramatic --- if not even tragic ---  event:she was forbidden to defend the Ph Thesis („Teza de doctorat”) in Psychology, in fact, nothing was said to her, but  the Commission was not allowed by ”The Party” (PCR) to be present. The day had been officially announced for  24 June 1949). The Thesis was the future „Limbaj si context”1959, Langage et contexte 1961, and the Commission had got since long the manuscriptum. The Doctorand was alone in the Faculty office of the Auditorium, the Secretary of the University (sent by Rector, Al.Rosetti, to see what was happening) entered and asked her „What are you doing, Miss?”, and she answered: ”I am here, but the Commission did not come”. Next day, the Dean and (formal) Director of  the Thesis, Mihail Ralea, wrote  a „Procčs Verbal” ( no. 1377/25 VI 1949),  lying, namely that the Commission had no time to read the voluminous Thesis…, and that . ”Miss T. Slama is not guilty of anything”, therefore it was  proposed to postpone the event for „autumn (1949)” (but it was already known that the new Law would appear, transforming the „Doctorate” and the title of „Doctor” into the Soviet system of „Aspirantur” and the „Candidate” title --- which implied humiliating exams, Marxism, ideologic - political adhesion, all actions to which  TSC --- her husband too --- did not accept to be submitted). The „Procčs verbal” was  signed by   Al. Rosetti, M.Ralea, Gh. Zapan, I. Bălănescu, M.Beniuc, E.Weigl (the strong Stalinist Al. Graur had opposed against her --- as he did during all 5o’s ---, and Balanescu too;he was a politically powerful complexed young man nephew of M.Roller, interested in such stratagems, because he had a low background, never wrote a scientific paper in 2o years of career, until he left  Romania forever, in 1969, with family.) That 1949 official paper  served (after tens  of years !), in 1965, to Ilie Murgulescu, President of the Academy, who invited TSC to give him that „Proces verbal”, because he ”needed one or two such papers”, in order to support the abolishment of the Soviet „Aspirantur”  in Romania and to come back again to the former system bringing to  the title of ”Doctor”.  As a consequence  o this new Law,  the former Doctorand, whose drama ---  determined by political absurdities of  dictatorship --- „served” after such a laps of time, got her Doctor degree („Doctor in Psychology”). But  in 1966 (for marking her protest, she presented now as a Thesis the book „Relations between Language behaviour and Thinking in ontogenesis”). Already on that occasion, her Professor, Gh. Zapan, underlined that she deserved getting  already the  new superior Title of „Dr. Docent in Sciences”, delivered for „a long scientific activity, …of a great value, representing outstanding contributions for the progress of science”. She got this Title in 1969, on the basis of a Report on all scientific results so far, defended with a Commission composed of Linguists (Academicians  I. Iordan and D. Macrea) and  Psychologis (V.Pavelcu and Al.Rosca), with a spontaneous report by Al.Rosetti ---. The title was no more allotted after around 1974 (by interfering of Elena Ceausescu), but it  was not abrogated, it can  be used. and it is beared by a few persons  / 1946 Exams forTranslator from and to French and Italian.

3.SCIENTIFIC - PROFESSIONAL  ACTIVITIES Teaching, Research  Functions. Some Avatars (Brief presentation)

I. Functions1948. Substitute Teacher Paedagogical Lyceum.

/ 1949 - Nov. 1952 Assist. Prof. Univ. Buc. Faculty of. Psychology (expelled in Nov.1952, for political reasons – father’s  political fate, adding the fact that not only  she didn’t  recant, disavoid him as it was the use, but she went to see him in Aug. 1952, when he got the permission of this visit; the „Politruk” Tamara Dobrin  overtly told her a bit later that she herself had signed the expelling. / 1954-1968. Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the Academy („Preparator” --- lowest degree --, Researcher, Senior Researcher, Head of Laboratory (of Language Behaviour „Limbaj”), nead HesadCercetHead of Section (of General Psychology/ 1954-1968. Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the Academy („Preparator” --- lowest degree --, Researcher, Senior Researcher, Head of Laboratory (of Language Behaviour „Limbaj”), nead HesadCercetHead of Section (of General Psychology)).

/1968-1980 The Deputy-Minister, Prof. Dr. Jean Livescu invites her at the Ministery of Education and informs about te decision to „bring” her back at the University, due to the fact she was much eulogized by Soviet experts who delivered postuniversity courses for the Teachers of Foreign Languages (he repeated what they said : ”You have such an international „specialist” as Professor TSC why are you inviting us?”). Her answer was that she would only come back as according to her right, i.e.as a „Full Professor”, and not nominated by the Ministery, but discussed  and agreed by the Faculty Council and voted by the Univ. Senate. She had been asked to present a Plan for her Course, and  therefore, while asking to be nominated at the Faculty of Letters, and not of Psychology (where there were too many machinations and no authority, after M. Ralea died in 1963), she elaborated a Plan for two connected and quite new Courses in Romania: „Psycholinguistics”: and: ”Applied Linguistics”. In the Senate Session, an opposition was organized by the political  „Activist” and quite deprived of  any scientifuc work Tamara Dobrin, but Al. Rosetti said just a few enthusiastic words, while  Acad. Grigore Moisil (much appreciated Mathematician and supporter of Linguistics and of Automatic Translations) said that  the famous  Roman Jakobson spoke about her with high appreciation. The result was a success, also because there were: 4 negative votes, a proof that it wasn’t  – as usually --- a politically obligation for unanimity”. The  same and other intrigues acted at the Ministery, hence the final official nomination was only delivered after one year. She gave in „premičre” Courses and Seminars of „Psycholinguistics”, and then also on „Applied Linguistics” (also connecting them, after 1971, with the newly creation of GRLA  and the affiliation to AILA).

/1979 nominated by France Government (Giscard D’Estaing) Professor at the. Univ. of Paris Sorbonne, repeated nomination  in 1980, but the   Ministery didn’t permit the leave (not even for 6 months as she had asked); finally, asked for anticipated retirement (a kind of resignation – unused in the Dictatorship!), the leave was admitted, for only 4 months, Febr. - June 1980. Delivered her Course („Psycholinguistics”, and „Applied Linguistics --- see the book 1984) in the Institute of Linguistics in Paris

/ 1980  nominatedProf.Consultant ”(Emeritus). in absence, with no application for it.

/ 1980 - present, Prof. Consultant [Emeritus Professor], Univ. Buc., Fac. Letters]

/1969 - present  Director of Doctorates in Psychology (Fac. of Psychology), 1971 also in Linguistics (Fac. of Letters).

II. Some Avatars determined by Political causes, in the Romania  Communist Regime. See above:

/1946 Exam.-Contest „Capacitate”,see above : won ”The First place” — however, she got  NO nomination at a School, for Teaching./1949 The Dr. Thesis --- The Commission prohibited. to be present.

/1952 Assist.Prof. --- Expelled for political reasons.

/ 1949-1954 As a consequence of the prohibition to defend the Ph D Thesis and of the newly created Censure, she could no more publish  anywgere  until 1954 , when Acad. D. Macrea (who had become a persona grata) agreed to the publication, in „SCL” (1954, see Art.5), then, in  French and Russian, in „RRL” (1956)’, of an abstract of the Thesis, Priunciple of adaptation to context. Numberless vicissitudes (just because working much --- and „still”, after the  previous troubles)occurred in her new career, namely Research  and the impetus for publishing her results). With great difficulties Acad. Al. Graur, Director of the „Editura Academiei”, agreed to publishing the new book, on „ Relations between thinking and language behaviour in ontogenesis”, 1957 (transl. into German, 1984, bellow Books, 6.A I 2 and 16): ”What can one write on that, in such a big hook?!”, he objected, before reading the book (may I remind that many times  he acted against her when  he was powerful, in the Stalinist epoch). As for the book, it was successful, R. Jakobson enthusiastically spoke  about it, recommending to take it as a model, when he had his 1959 travel to Eastern Coutries, e.g.in Bulgaria, J. Piaget among others quoted it, Bărbel Inhelder described some experiments presented in the book etc.).

/1959 A great satisfaction was offered: a former excellent student from her Seminar in   1951, Liviu Damian, who was hired at the 2nd important Publishing House, Editura Stiintifica, without telling her anything, struggled for succeeding to publish „The” Thesis, and  when all was decided, he announced her. She worked for giving the form of  a book to the Thesis, and in 1959 Limbaj si conext was in print. 1959, Roman Jakobson ---considered ”the greatest linguist”, and a friend of Al. Rosetti, was invited to deliver conferences in Bucharest, at  University and Academy. TSC gave him the reprint of „Principe…”, on the occasion of the party offered in Rosetti’s home. Jakobson wanted to discuss with her, and amidst the crowd , sitting on  a bench, she had a long speech about the book in print and her views  on Context. Next day,  in the Aula of the Fac. of Letters, the mostly admired linguist, delivering his conference on Poetics and on Language Functions wrote on the old blackboard  „the Functions”, and declared that now he was adding  CONTEXT, and suddenly tackled TSC’s reprint, waving it enthusiastically while  saying: ”It is the best work on Context I know”. It was one of  the greatest supports one could get in those awful  times. He gave her a reprint with a dedication (below: „Thank you…”, alluding to her exposé about context), and said that he will recommend TSC’s book publication in French at Mouton, where he was an Adviser (during his travel back to USA, he did it and sent a postcard to TSC attesting that she will receive a letter from Mouton--- the result : Books, 6.A.I 4).  In 1959 too,

(repeatedly in 1960), upon  Roman Jakobson’s recommendation, she received the invitation frome  M.I.T.Cambridge Laboratory of Electronics, to form for one year a team on „Communication” with  George . Miller, Noam Chomsky, Claude .Shannon; she was not allowed to go („the pass refused”), and R. Jakobson felt offended about. In 1969, when she was for the first time allowed to travel to USA, in the framework of RECAP, see below (it was said that she was „on Nixon’s list” when he came to Romania), a visit was organized by the CAL  for  her also at the MIT; the  Director of the Laboratory of Electronics, Kenneth Stevens, reminded of  what had  happened in1959 -1960, and among other matters, he admitted that Automatic Translation (a boom in the 6o’s) did not progress because the importance of the powerful influence of ”context” was omitted, and that her presence would have been benefic from that point of view too. End 1970s, she was invited by the Congress of Phonetics in Montreal to be Official Discussant of K. Stevens’ Plenary Lecture on recognizing voices at phone; her travel was not allowed (she sent her co - report, on factors --- emotions etc. --- modifying voices—see Art. 44 )./1968 her coming back at University, see the Avatars above, in I)

/ 1979, 1980: invited as a Prof.  by Univ. of Paris, Sorbonne for one year, not allowed by Communist Regime, left but for 4 months, after an unofficial resignation, see Avatars above).

/1963 The Academy Prize (for Dialogul la copii, 1961; Dialogue in children,1977, Czeck version 1966, etc.). Also, an important civil Decoration was afforded, quite unexpectedly for a

„not-Member of the Party”: the  „Ordinul Muncii” („Labour Order, class III”)  was conferred to her together with other scholars, by the Romania President, Gheorghiu-Dej, in a general festivity at the ancient Royal Palace. Very probably, in that successful context --- also including books translated abroad, beginning of international fame ---gealousy acted but also post-information concerning her decoration a.o. in the higher spheres of  PCR brought to a heavy  to endure „Proces pe  Instituţie” (“Trial inside the Institution”, which was especially used in the 50’s as  a kind of intimidating torture). All the members of the Institute of Psychology (where she had a high rank, of „Head of  Laboratory”) were convened, in a session whose aim wasn’t known, and that was chaired by the „Sindicat” (Institute’s Trade Union) President, the researcher Al. Neacsu, and  as “Accuser” acted the young researcher under her guidance, Ion Manzat. Not having much to reproach, the latter „accused”, with menacingly and ironically voice, in the complete silence of the attendance:   „She says that verbal stimuli are more efficient in plants! [I meant,in automatized plants, on the pannels in front of the operators]  But it isn’t true, all the engineers know that! …”And the Tovarasha wants to make (my) education [she had reproached him indeed, because he missed the train when he accompanied her to an important Factory where she investigated the role of „Communication”, see 6 A.Books,  no. 6 - which T. A. Sebeok wanted to publish at Indiana, but he couldn’t find an expert translator-three persons’ tests were rejected, for not knowing the various special codes implied in the plants \ activities]. She was not allowed to speak, all were silent. She felt completely downhearted, and, supported by her husband, felt she could no more go on. Next day, she went to the other office of M. Ralea (who for sure was only informed post-festum), and presented him a written resignation, which he didn’t accept and suggested her to ask for a  2 months „no-salary  leave”(a leave of absence). She went for one month on the Bucegi Mountains (the „14oo m.Hotel”), where she recovered (from one of her heaviest pains).

She found there power again and inspiration for the invited Report at Nancy 1964 (where she succeeded to be allowed to go and had one of her first  great successes, see Art.14), and for the project of a series of  experiments quite new  in Psychological bibliography (comparison of Verbal and Nonverbal stimuli perception and adequate reaction, Art.18, appreciated and imitated by Paul Fraisse etc.), as well as for two new devices (see 6 B Technical Letters Patents).

/1959-1961 „Secretary of Redaction” (of the Editorial Board), 1961 - 1972 „Redactor-responsabil Adjunct” (Deputy Editor–in-Chief) of „Revista de Psihologie” and  ”Revue….” [„RRssPs”] (Ed. Academiei - Institute of Psychology) –unpaid --- ,”scoasă” (expelled)  in 1972, replaced by the long date Communist Poet M. Beniuc, who was since many years  quite inactive in Psychology,  and  Edith Gulian( a philosopher), who left Romania almost immediately; no justification was given when she asked,on the spot, for the reason,  but for sure because she wasn’t and even refused to become a Member of PCR, see above, and details below 9.) From that moment on (1972), she did no more even enter that Institute that had been part of  her life and heart (and so she had  no „opportunity” to have know and for sure to protest against the ”Transcendental Meditation”,a manipulation against scholars and intellectuals, who fell into that  Security trap). After 1990 she was invited once at the Editorial Board meeting, but never more afterwards, no information about submitted and published articles, so she asked, in 2007, to have her name deleted from the Editorial Committee. 1972, she was invited by Mouton Publishers to create, organize and be Editor-in-Chief of the unique Journal in the area, which she named   „International Journal of Psycholinguistics” [„IJPL”], see infra, 8..Here, just a few words, to evoke the immense difficulties and troubles (true „avatars” again), due to the (political) habits, to a (masked) censure,  for receiving from abroad articles of foreign authors, edit them, compose each issue, get „agreement form” (necessary at Postoffice) from Rector, and go to Post --wherefrom sometimes she was sent  back for some „other official paper”. And for all that --- and a Publisher at thousands kilometers distance ---, working completely alone (no secretary, no coworker, no typewring person, etc, and no e-mail at that time, even no telephone, for sake of Securitate!). Therefore, in 1980 she suspended the publication (re-knotted again, in 1993, approached by  Japanese colleagues, in Japan).

/1968-1969,  approached by Al.Rosetti (Center of Phonetics and Dialectology, Academy --- CPhD) and D. Chitoran (Dean, Fac. Foreign Languages), she agreed to join the newly created RECAP and had the opportunity of meeting William Nemser, Director at CAL, who had come in order to offer that Project for cooperation, with Ford Foundation support. Just at her first meeting with  the distinguished American scholar, she asked to be briefly introduced  to „Contrastive Linguistics” (W. Nemser had its  PhD in that area), as applied to Learning / Teaching English by Romanians and vice-versa, and immediately objected that such an approach was a  mere abstraction, because the two systems met not as a speculation of a Linguist, but in fact met in the learner; therefore, a Psycholinguistics approach was for the first time suggested  and then developed. She and W. Nemser wrote, in her office at the Faculty, the first article in this concern (published, see infra, Art. 26 ), and it had success, for the great satisfaction of both authors. She participated  in various Project’s Meetings, in Romania and in Zagreb too, and  was invited by CAL within the  Project (and was probaby  allowed to  finally travel to USA due to the official status of the Project, possibly also considered as a link for cooperation with USA (see at that time also Nixon’s visit at Bucharest). She developed a whole system of critically approaching Contrastive Linguistics, and arrived to establish the first „System of errors” in learning  English  by Romanians, etc. (see.e.g Books 6. A.III. 4,  Art.30, 41, a.o., 44 with T. Dutescu-Coliban). After middle of 1970s, the RECAP was no more functioning as it had been  predicted. A great scientific  support for Romania of her cooperation has also been the fact that  numerous books on Psycholinguistics  were sent , upon her request, to the Library of  CPhD  -now the Institute of Linguistics. Avatars for TSC ?”Of course”, : Securitatea asked  Al.Rosetti what about working together TSC and W.Nemser? Stupid intrigues of „colleagues” in the Faculty? Or stupid inquiries of Securitatea itself ? Both

/1948.Literary Début :won  an important Prize ,at National level, for a Nuvela(ex aequo with the Nuvela which became much famous(“Head of Bison”[Zimbru],of an old great Writer,Vasile Voiculescu;however, the Nuvela of the very young  TSC was considered as better, because of its originality ---and it remained indeed unique). The Nuvela(“Holly Friday”) was published in the magazine which had launched the Competition, but the latter was”suspended”(put off) by political order (V.Papilian, who had been in the Commission and  wrote about the Nuvela, was arrested later on ).The Nuvela was taken off from printing in „Revista Fundatiilor Regale by its Director, Al.Rosetti (who appreciateed it very much, but he never accepted to publish something already appeared---however, in reality,in this  case, the fate of the other magazine was determinant). The Nuvela was published, with the entire „Cycle”, in 2002,by the good Publishing House Polirom(8 Patimi „ 8 Passions”).TSC’s  way in Belletristics  was closed in the Communist era, with its Censure, Ideological restrictions ,.criteria of „Socialistic Realism”.Enjoying of the enthusiastic support of some less conformist though  powerful persons in the Regime, she had another Nuvela included in „Luceafarul”,in 1963,but the rival of the person who had accepted it,withdrawned it from printing. The  great Criticist Serban Cioculescu persuaded D.Botez,Director of „Viata Romaneasca” to publish ,in 1966,”Parfum de caltunasi”, ”Perfume  of Nasturtium”, a predecessor of P.Süsskind’s „The Perfume”, who possibly knew about, via Prof.(at Nice) Pierre Guiraud, whom TSC gave the printed Nuvela and who knew Romanian language. TSC never succeeded to publish the volume in the 1980s,but some „brief Prose” were included in the „RLit.” by its Director,G.Ivascu. In 1988 the „Uniunea Scriitorilor” was still determined politically,  and „postponed” her admission even in a more comprehensive Section. She only became a Member in 2oo1.It is still difficult to admit, for some old-structured minds, that TSC is  not only a ”distinguished Scholar” but also a  Writer .Sequels of  people moulded in and  by a too long narrow-minded and lyer Regime will last still for years.

/1967  ,invited by the Academy President,   Acad. Gh.Mihoc, a distinguished Scholar, to become a Member of P.C.R.(very probably,he had received an order in this concern, because TSC had arrived to  high scientific functions, had a fruitful activity and was internationally appreciated ), she refused that „invitation”--- an unused  fact with serious consequences for sure .(e.g.her 1967-68 ,”coming back to Univ.”,the kabbala T.Dobrin et al.see above).

/1971. She succeeded to create  Laboratorul de  Psiholingvistică” Univ.Bucureşti---the first in Europe(having a Director, a Council,Researchers, Research , an Experimental Booth, new devices,cf. its “Surveys…” : it was abusively abolished in 1973(among other cases ---as gealousy, and her status as a “Not-Member of the Party”,also the fact that two of her Researchers .sent by her with grants abroad,”remained”there(did not come back to Romania).

/1974 , recommended by Al.Rosetti and I.Iordan tio be a  Member of Academy, her name was rejected  ,on the eve of the day when her name was to be put down, and she was substituted for a person who was politically agreed(being a Member  of „C C”,i.e. „Central Committee”of PCR and Deputy-even if with much less scientific level, books etc. )(orders had been given to only elect persons with political activity, because Elena Ceausescu had to become an „Academician”,and she was „elected” indeed,so as many others,  just considered to be  very loyal politically).Since 1974,there were no more „elections” at the Academy, until 1990 and after, with the same criteria, unexpressed, and even more subjective, arbitrary. //Briefly here(for some details see infra, 9), several Avatars concerning Membership or creating/directing Associations. 1964 firstly allowed  to  travel to  Occident (previously ,1963,attacked by the ”Trial”,above)): Nancy, invited ,with an International Top of 50 Linguists,at the Ist Conf.of Applied Linguistics, Foundation of AILA (see below). 1963,Creation of the Asociaţiei Psihologilor”(„Assoc.of Romanian Psychologists”).She insisted that M.Ralea get the necessary permission(from „CC”!), wrote the „Statutes”,was elected as „Secretary general”, organized its first activities, Sections etc.,organized with much success the Ist Conference, with International participation, but in 1968 Al.Rosca eliminated her ,replacing  her with  C.Voicu (good political status, ancient  Aspirant in URSS) (M.Ralea had died in 1963 and Al.Rosca ,politically strong, came from Cluj and took his functions,as  President of APR, Directior of the Institute,etc.). Unfortunately,Research in Psychology decayed, the Association even more, almost no activity for  tens of years, etc.,vicissitudes after 1990,see below .9).

/1971 she created GRLA, elected President, appreciated(by hundreds of Members) „unpolitical”activity   monthly scientific Meetings, with Round Tables or individual Papers, presentation of newly received books(by her, offering  them to everybody), 10 National Conferences (triennial),10 volumes  with the Proceedings. Especially from 1980s on,political troubles.

/1982 ISAPL creation, see 9--; troubles ,maybe less before 1990,because it was considered as a Romanian success, but mostly after 1990 there are some signs of insidious interfering. 1950-1990. Awful. Avatars in being able to travel. She was  very frequently invited (especially after 1965),always with complete financial support,to deliver lectures, conferences, courses, plenary lectures in congresses,to organize Symposia or chair Meetings,Sessions, etc.in many countries,in all continents(France,Italy,Portugal,Spain,Finland,Norway,Germany, etc.---all countries of Europe except Albany----,and: Algeria,Canada,Brazil,Peru,Israel,Japan,.a.o.). But,unfortunatelly,as already evoked above, in their majority(maybe 8o-90%) the travels were not allowed by Romanian(political) authorities,or with a delay,or after painful struggles (this caused not rarely exhausting herself just before a scientific event where she should have been in  full vitalty,or adjournments  and disturbing an already established program (e.g.one month for Mexico 1973,Brazil 1988(not rarely, the effect was an illness (as e.g.in 1971, when not allowed  going to Paris, to chair the Colloquium she organized with Serge Moscovici’s Laboratory support :she got a nervous urticaria,a rash),or being sent back from Airport(in 1973,when invited to Mexico: because of a stupid „Suspicion of intention to remain abroad”,as she found after 2000 written in one of her Dossiers at Securitate !).

After 1989, Avatars are still to be noted---even more painful ,because so many hopes were born, while illusions vanished (the title of a more recent book of her’s ,The decade of vanished illusions,2004,2005---Books 6.I. 22,23).Sequelas of mentality show their dramatical power, habits persist in many people, remnants resurrect as Phoenix Birds, greater „collegial”gealousy is acting, phantoms change into arrogants. In spite of so many  vanished jevenile illusions and acute troubles, she had in all „those years” a vertical attitude and she enjoyed a wellknown international appreciation. She lived repeatedly political shocks and was not a PCR Member(or maybe just fo that, because demonstrating that it had also been „possible” to have this behaviour ---though attracting disadvantages---,she is going on being met with various troubles or at leastlet her  be „invisible”.Just in the beginning of the new era,in 1990,”somebody” (she knows who, a person who got important functions in the new  regime, the same as in the previous one)from the Ministery of Education secretely deleted her name from the List of „Professors at Univ.Buch.”---in fact,a „False in Public Documents”,.adding,by handwriting, that „U[niversity]does not agree „Nu e de acord”,i.e.to be(to going on being) Emeritus Professor(„Prof.Consultant”)and Director of PhD Theses The(new) Rector, Nicolae Cristescu, and other important persons from „Rectorat” didn’t know about, and  strongly opposed when they knew the „false”, sent new and new „papers”, and with the normal support of the Minister too, everything came back to what it had been Nothing more ! But it had costed pains  again.---and also desgust .She went  on getting very active ,in  more in-depth studying Communication, and various stratagems such as Langue de bois, („Wooden Language”),Manipulation,Intoxication, Imposture etc.She publishes ,much and is strongly critically reacting---see e.g.Articles(Essays) after 1989, and Books 22,23,a critical radiography of the decade ‚90,as a criticist wrote in his review, and another one said in a TV  presentation. Among the many deceptions, it is worth mentioning one of those  concerning the new High Technology ,which is of such a help in .writing mostly, but among others she had to discover some misdoings of „Wikipedia”, where  anybody can write anything with no control(or with a mysterious „power”,and an impostor woman  got the opportunity to „glue” for ever-with no possibility of correction--- her name to TSC’s one, as having the same function and rank as TSC  in GRLA,relations with AILA .

She is included in over 30 Who’s Whoes Romanian and Intern.e.g. “Great Women of the Millennium” ABI,”5oo Leaders of Influence Outstanding Intellectuals”CIB etc./Languages: Romanian(Mother tongue),French,Italian,English(well), Spanish (oral underst., reading),Portug.,German(reading).

4 . A. MODALITIES OF ACTIVITY /B.SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL AREAS./C. .SYSTEM OF SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTION

  A.Modalities of Activity. Didactics ---Professor  (University)---,Scientific Researcher, Writer : in Science,  Essays,Literary exegesis,Belletristics---over 5oo articles, 51 volumes (30 as a single author ;18 ”ed.by-”;20  abroad--10 single author, 8 ed.by., 3 with other authors).

B .Scientific and Practical Areas::Psychology,Linguistics, General and Applied  (she institutionalized for the first time this Area AND contributed for AL development in Romania---Univ.Course,”GRLA”,Scientific Meetings, contributions in „Language Teaching”,etc.),Psycholinguistics(national and  international promoter, institutionalization of  PL,promoter of transforming  PL,from an  «Interdisciplinary          Field»,into a «Science»,«with multidisciplinary connections»(cf.also „ISAPL”1994),Paedagogy,, Sociolinguistics,Semiotics. History of Arts,Romanian and Italian Literature. C. System of Scientific Conception. A conception envisaging the  „Human” as a whole,  of Language not as a „living organism”,independent(an obsolete conception), but existing inside, within the Human ---in his/her  bio-psycho-social reality Preoccupied by the connexion between Science and Reality, which the first should serve ,hence of the applications in practical life (improving Communication,Language teaching, correct use of Romanian Language ,counteracting manipulatory stratagems,etc.). A continually respected theoretical  princeps Postulate :«starting from Reality,in this context respectively, from the reality of the concrete act of  communication via language behaviour ,brought her to create, formulate in a system, apply in practical life ,validate (via research, publications, international acknowledgement, see e.g. infra 5,6 etc.) : The  CONTEXTUAL-DYNAMIC  Theory and Methodology (CDTM) : a)a new Model of theAct of  Communication (starting from the  REALITY of this  Act);b),the first transformation of static Structuralism,   by demonstrating the possibility of noticing the «DYNAMIC »character of Structure(cf. infra,1957 Art.7);c)modification of the ”Scheme of Communication” (with the first inclusion of Emitter/Receiver in the reality, hence IN CONTEXT; d) The first scientific  extension of the concept CONTEXT and its systematic development(cf.infra,Books, 3,4),with the „subordinated spheres”of the «Contextual Levels»(ExplicitImplicit, Linguistic-Situational, Verbal-Nonverbal); e)demonstration of the existence of the Act of « ContextYual Organization of  Emission» and of  «Contextual Interpretation of  Message Reception » etc. ;f)The study  of  Communication in the Dynamics of  Reception  as an individual act (of a certain moment or in  ontogenezis ), or a historical one, and of the Dynamics of Message Construction - DCM ; g)The first research on (registered) Dialogue in children ,and generally new studies on the «Structure of  Dialogue».etc..h) Continuous applications and new validations of DCTM)(CDTM) in the Analysis of Literary Text, then in other areas(e.g.recently on Architecture ,see Art.s)

Synthesis :Quite long life,a whole life working, ample activity ---scientific,didactic, writing, managerial even---international acknowledgements (titles, publications, appreciations, reviews, hommagial volumes, directing scientific journals, associations, congresses etc.).Had to suffer numberless political troubles during  Romania Dictatorship –also due to Parents status(Father  arrested as „Liberal –G.Bratianu”,died in prison, she never abhored her origin, name, education ,ideas. Never accepted to be a  member of P.C.R (Communist Party—during Dictatorship 1948-1989 in Romania). She is neither a member of any Party after 1990. but she intensively  participate ,by publications(and by harsh  empathy ) in the socio-political life of Romania,struggling--- dangerously  for health and enduring organic pains--- to underline new great  misfortunes : she  burns till last drop of life in a continuous revolt ,sometimes thinking of the  great Painter Luchian, who binded the brushes to his paralized hands.

She also involves (with limited opportunities) in the situation of School( e.g.by invitation,in 2007, from „Tribuna Invăţământului”, she helds a weekly Chronicle,on Language present errors,etc.).

                8. NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS  (Member,Founder,Organizer, Leasership)---External Links.   (mentioned only several, still active,or prestigious ,and /or  with personal organizing, leading activity).

---GRLA/RWCAL „Groupe Roumain de Linguistique Appliquée/Romanian Working Commission of Applied Linguistics”(in the beginning,it was formally iuncluded into  „Societatea Română de Lingvistică ”,following Al.Rosetti’s suggestion,in order to avoid the refusal of the CC(Central Committee of  P.C.R.)to let creating this Association (by a Not-Member of PCR!);but it was from the very beginning quite independent of  SRL. Founder and Organizer ,in  1970 (with  20 Founding Members---as  Al..Rosetti,Gr.Moisil, A.Kreindler a.o..)--,who elected TSC as  President .Very soon, over 500 applied for Membership,Monthly Sessions with scientific papers, and many Round tables,on stimulating modern topics , presentation of new books(received  by TSC from abroad)(considered as an „oasis”,i.e.outside the PCR’s politics, and therefore, but also for general reasons, met with political „problems”). Every 3  years,a National Conference, almost all financially  supported by the participants:10 triennial  Conferences, and the respective volumes (see ed.by-), 1972-2008 affiliated to AILA(it is worth underlining here ,for a general warning against possible manipulations associated with the free access in Wikipedia, the insidiously   sudden adding ,in  the page written by an anonym in Romanian about AILA,  the name of a person --not even a  GRLA member, and since tens of years  living abroad-- as having the same status, functions, university position in GRLA ,Univ.Bucharest and AILA as TSC  ! ). ..

---„AILA Commission of Psycholinguistics”, 1972-2000(no more in function now).TSC founded and  organized it in 1972, was elected by AILA as President (later on ,as for the other Commissions too, called „Convenor”).TSC proposed to be coopted  Prof.R.Titone as a Vice-President ),In every AILA Congress there were very successful  Meetings.Symposia were organized in the Congresses(several volumes published) an Inter-Congresses Conference in 1982,Milano,a first Network was created, and a „Newsletter”published with financial support of Kassel Univ.,by TSC, H.Dechert and M.Raupach.

--- „International Society of Applied Psycholinguistics”(ISAPL),the only one in this Field .Founder 1982,Milano (after proposing her project ,in Rome,to R.Titone),with 20 Founding Members, remarkable persons, participants in the „AILA Commission of Psycholinguistics Conference”.TSC composed  with R.Titone the text read in Milano, then wrote the Statutes  agreed later on by the elected Committee, and ,as the elected President in Milano, she organized further on the activities . After having acted 1982-1985 as President, she became 1985—present  „Honorary President”,later on proposing and succeeding to have also as „Honor.Presid.” R.Titone, then L.Scliar-Cabral.Always and still more trying to create new generations of younger  scientists for going on with ISAPL’s activity and PL’s development.Acted  in cooperation for finding sites of future Congresses, and helping their  organization(as now for the 9th Congress in Bari 2010  much preoccupied of a  general orientation, for an ISAPL efficient internet site, etc.

---„Asociaţia Psihologilor din România”(Association of  Psychologists of Romania)(previous, original one).Founder 1963: M.Ralea, helped by TSC,elected  Secretary general 1963-1969(she wrote the  Statutes, organized Sections, Meetings.,Main organizer of „1st National  Conference” 1969;eliminated on political decision, by Al.Roşcat (the President after M.Ralea’s death in 1963, supported by the CC of PCR) and replaced by C.Voicu. She demonstrativelly  did no more be active in APR/.After 1990, asked and much supported at first by several ancient Members from Timisoara, she tried to ressuscitate the APR,suggested  the elaboration of a special :Law and of a „Psychologists Collegium”,.also to legalize  the „Psychologist status”,wrote a wrote  a”Deontologic Code”,a whole „Project” too,and  gave the typewritten text to colleagues from Cluj (Researcher. C.Stanescu),but she was never more announced about anything, not even invited at the 1993 Conference.  She warned about the unlegal  status of further acts of those who undertook the control of this Association without taking into account the previous members etc.,and especially (see also ,Art.123,and supra  )  and of the great dangers of superficiality, professional incompetence, insufficient financial morality, and   of ,social, basic actions correctitude.

---„European Society of Experimental Social Psychology”, very selective especially in the past, elected her as a Member in 1970 (1968  invited at the Prague Conference). She was the first elected Member from Romania, recommended (he told her)by  Serge Moscovici  a.o.Afterwards she  recommended several from Romania,as her D.rand Aurora Perju-Liiceanu ,AnaTucicov-Bogdan,Adrian Neculau.

           ---Temporarily she also was elected or had functions in some other Associations,Coimmittees,etc., such as: „Int  Assoc.of Child Language”,(Founding Member 1972, Vice-Presid.  1972-1975). „Association des Psychologues de Langue Française”( 1967---,Member Commit.  1977,Bureau  Conseil 1977-1986 ),.„Assoc.Int.de Psychologie Appliquée”(by election,Titular Member1969),. „AILA”,invited at  Nancy 1964,which included AILA  foundation,Member in International  Committee1972-2007,in the Board (1980 ?).

                          9 EDITORIAL BOARDS

(Selection :Member in some prestigious ones, Leadership-Director,Editor-in-Chief a.o.).

---International journal of psycholinguistics”(IJPL),1972-1980, 1993---, Editor-in-Chief. În 1972,invited by Ed.Mouton,Haga,TSC created alone this new Journal(first issues commonn with „Linguistics”),the only one in the Field ,which got a great prestige She  formed by invitation the Committee(Roman Jakobson,Jean .Piaget---by his own request---,-,G.Miller, a .o. remarkable personalities),she made the  design of the cover (also creating the first abbreviation and the symbolic one of PL i.e.  ΨΛ) she  organized  thev way of cooperation with authors and especially the Publisher (NO model about ,in Romania under Dictatorship and dominating Politics and Securitatea ; the  e-mail facilities didn’t yet exist, she had no  Secretariat, she paid all herself at Postoffice, it was  impossible--- mostly because politically dangerous---- to have communication by phone abroad). She had asked,at Univ..Buc,the agreement ,quite necessary for receiving a bulk of correspondence from abroad and to send the composed issues, etc. (a formal agreement was given to her for Post office and Custom, signed  by Rector). It became more and more difficult to resist :to many political impediments, often sent bacl from Postoffice  because new rules imposed   new recommendations , etc. ,and maybe also local(outside probably too !) gealousies acted ;besides,Mouton Publishers had an unexpected evolution (included into DeGruyter ,from Berlin), the Journal’s diffusion was no more well done by Publisher. In 198o she suspended the publication ( 24-th issue), keeping her right of going on being the „Editor-in-Chief” and the copy-right. After 1990,Japanese colleagues insisted in inviting her to publish a new series in Japan ,finding there the necessary financial support in the”Academic Socieies”. TSC agreed ,went to  Japan directly from a good Congress in wonderful Banff, had  hard  negociations in Osaka, kept her complete independence ,and the first issue re-appeared in1993 (including a study too,by which she wanted to make the scientific community aware of part of the horrors lived by a majority under the cover of such an ideology and regimc(cf.”IJPL”,1[28]1993, about „untrue dialogues”,i.e.interrogations under torture, for which she had got inspiration from a paper delivered-and offered to her--by Johann Jakobs at Basel Conference of „IADA”,and which dealt with  former political trials in South  Africa). Now she was free  to travel, and cooperated well with Japanese Publisher..

----Co-ed.„AILA Commission of Psycholinguistics Newsletter”, with H.Dechert,M.Raupach,with financial support of  Univ.Kassel, 1982—1987?

--- Coed.”!ISAPL Bulletin”, with  L.Scliar-Cabral,then S.Stame was coopted too, with financial  support  of  Univ.Sta Catarina Brazil, including articles, information about ISAPL, about its Congresses,Elections etc.

--„Revista de Psihologie”and „RRssPS”,1959-1962 Secretary of Redaction, 1962-1972 „Redactor-Responsabil Adjunct”.(Deputy-Editor),with no salary(it was an extra-task almost,in her Institute job) .She directly and passionately involved  in this activity, succeeded to arise their scientific level, created an intensive exchange with many important international publications, contributed to the training of a young Secretary etc. Suddenly(TSC has known about just in the  Committee meeting!),eliminated,in 1972 (very probably because not a Member of PCR and even having overtly refused to become):replaced with persons who were not able to be efficient in that situation(the Communist  Poet M.Beniuc, and former Dr.in---a little fish behaviour --- Psychology in Hamburg tens of years ago, had no contact with Psychology since long, while Edith Gulian almost immediately left  Romania for ever). From that moment on,TSC  announced, in a brief  note to the President of the (newer and very political and to which  the Institute was depending )„Academy of Moral and Political Sciences”, Mihnea Gheorghiu, that she will no more cooperate with the Institute present Direction .And she did no more even enter into the Institute of Psychology,of which she was profoundly connected ,where she had her Laboratory ,where she had contributed to build the other Laboratories, etc. In 2007,realizing that. after1990(when she came for the first time again to a Committee meeting) ,she had never been  informed about these Journals’ activity ,articles etc., she decided to withdraw

and asked that her name be  deleted from the Committee.

---„AILA Review”, editor  of  the Spcial  issue „Psycholinguistics

--- Member of Committees of : „Enfance”(Paris)(the most important scientific European journal on  child ); „Rivista di Psicolinguistica Applicata”,Roma..;”Psihologia socială”(„Bul.Laboratorului .de Psih.Socială” Univ.Iaşi, Polirom), etc. (For the unwonted and exotic flavour, to mention  ---though TSC had never been asked if she agreed or not to be in the Committee:„Indian journal of Linguistics”,”Indian journal of Applied Linguistics” New Delhi 1982-),

       10. SEVERAL(IMPORTANT) PARTICIPATIONS IN  SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS  or INVITED COURSES OF LECTURES,CONFERENCES  a.o., --in Romania and especially in other Countries

exclusively by personal invitation, including  complete financial support.,with main activities ,as Plenary Lectures,Key-Note Addresses---all published, see above---, Organizer,Chairing  etc.;important to  be precised :1959-1989 ,TSC received a great number of invitations---all expenses included---,but for the majority ---mentioned onky 3 here ---,the Romanian Dictatorship authorities did not allow the travel  (it was said ”the passport”; those selected here are but  several for which permission was allotted  , probably because some were considered as very important ---they were so!---,or for preventing international comments or protests, for others there were external interventions etc .;the so-called „exchanges between the Academies of the Socialist Countries” are not mentioned here---they included professional,---not political--  visits, delivering of communications , enjoying very good reception.
